Artists Council  2023 "Through the Lens" Photography Show & Sale

March 23 - April 23, 2023

In-Person at the Artists Center at the Galen 

72-567 Highway 111, Palm Desert, California

The Artists Council continues to seek new and exciting opportunities for its member artists to show their work. This new show -- “Through the Lens” -- will celebrate photographers and their medium. 



  • Submit to this show here:

  • Up to 2 artworks per applicant will be accepted into the show; a second piece is optional.

  • Entry fee for this in-person exhibit: $35 for 1 piece and $25 for the second entry.

  • Pay with a major credit card via the online application form accessible from the link above.

  • The show is non-juried, but only the first 100 artworks will be accepted.



  • Submission Deadline: 4 pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2023. NOTE: Submissions will close before March 7, if we reach the maximum number of 100 entries, so enter as soon as you can!

  • Drop Off: Tuesday, March 21, 2023, 9 am to 11 am, at the Artists Center at the Galen

  • Show Opens: Thursday, March 23, 2023, 10 am (regular gallery hours; no opening reception)

  • Show Closes: Sunday, April 23, 2023

  • Pick Up of Unsold Works: Sunday, April 23, 2023, 2 pm to 4 pm (please be on time, as the building closes at 4 pm)


You must be a member of the Artists Council to enter. To join or renew your membership, please do so before you submit by clicking here:


Artwork must be:

  • No larger than 36 in x 36 in (framed).

  • No smaller than 14 in x 14 in (framed)

  • Ready for hanging or installation, professionally presented, and meet the following additional requirements.


Additional Requirements:

  • All works on photo paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglass.

  • Artwork must be wired for hanging. No saw-tooth hangers or ceiling mounts will be accepted.

  • No fees will be refunded after submission.

  • Photos will hang during the entirety of the show.

Drop Off:

  • Artwork must be delivered to the Artists Center at the Galen in Palm Desert by the artist or his/her agent.

  • Artwork shipped to the Artists Center will not be accepted.

  • The Artists Council cannot provide special handling for artwork.


Pricing, Sales, and Pick Up:

  • Artwork must be available for sale.

  • Sale price must be between $300 and $8,000. Please note: no change to the sale price will be made after submission.

  • The artwork’s price must be the same as on your website or otherwise promoted.

  • Proceeds from any sale (excluding sales tax) will be split 50-50 between the artist and the Artists Council (to support programs and operations).

  • Buyers are responsible for picking up the artwork they purchase and for any shipping and all associated expenses for artwork after purchase. Sales tax will be added to the sale price and paid by the buyer. If the buyer is not in town on April 23, 2023, the artist will be expected to assist with pick up and shipment/delivery.

  • The artist or his/her agent is responsible for picking up or shipping unsold works.


By submitting to the Artists Council’s “Through the Lens” Show & Sale, the artist acknowledges and agrees that he/she:

  • Has read and agrees to all conditions of entry.

  • Releases rights for use of images of his/her artwork in any Artists Council promotional and marketing materials.

  • Is responsible for insurance for his/her artwork. Neither the Artists Council and its officers, directors, staff, or volunteers; nor anyone connected with the “Through the Lens” Show & Sale will be responsible for loss or damage to artwork, however caused. All exhibiting artists will be required to sign a liability waiver at the time of artwork drop-off.

  • The Artists Council reserves the right to refuse any artwork that is not of acceptable quality, does not match the submitted entry image, or does not meet framing or finishing criteria, or any other requirements stated above.
