2023 ARTISTS COUNCIL "OFF THE WALL" HOLIDAY SHOW & SALE

“Off the Wall” is the Artists Council’s Holiday Season show, combined with our “Holiday Squares” Fundraiser and the new AC Store’s gift items, offering our member artists new and exciting opportunities for in-person displays of their work. Please read the prospectus carefully and follow the guidelines carefully.

 

TO ENTER THE “Off the Wall” SHOW & SALE:

  • Submit to this show HERE.

  • 1 artwork per applicant will be accepted into the show.

  • Entry Fee for this in-person exhibit: $45.

  • Pay with a major credit card via the online application form accessible from

       the link above.

  • The show is non-juried, but only the first 100 artworks will be accepted.

 

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Submission Deadline for the “Off the Wall” Show & Sale: Thursday, October 26, at 4 pm

      NOTE: The submission process will close prior to October 26, if we reach the maximum number of          100 entries, so enter as soon as you can!

  • Drop Off: Monday, November 13, from 9 am to 11 am, at the Artists Council at the Galen.

  • Show Open: Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 10 am (regular gallery hours)

  • Opening Reception: Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4 to 6 pm

  • Show Close: Sunday, January 14, 2024, 4 pm

  • Pick Up of Unsold Works: Sunday, January 14, 2024, 2 pm to 4 pm (please be on time, because the building closes at 4 pm!)

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be a member of the Artists Council to enter.

    • If you are not a member, you can use this entry form to join the Artists Council and enter the show.

    • If your membership has lapsed, you can renew your membership using this entry form.

    • Note:  the entry form supports our standard individual membership of $75/year.  If you need a student membership or have a higher-level membership, please join or renew using our website at ArtistsCouncil.com/join before starting this exhibition entry.

Artwork must:

  • Be no larger than 48 in (wide) x 60 in (high) (framed).

  • Minimum size 12 in x 12 in (framed).

  • Be ready for hanging or installation, professionally presented, and meet the additional requirements below.

  • The Artists Council reserves the right to reject work that is not up to professional standards.

 

Other Requirements:

  • All works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglass.

  • Unframed canvas must be gallery-wrapped.

  • Works on canvas or other materials must be finished on the edges.

  • Two-dimensional artwork must be wired for hanging. No saw-tooth hangers

       or ceiling mounts will be accepted.

  • Hanging cleats are acceptable for aluminum work only.

  • Wall hangings that do not have a typical wire or mounting device must have hardware provided by the artist.

  • Three-dimensional artwork cannot exceed 150 pounds or 72” high by 36” wide by 36” deep and must be delivered ready for display.

  • Works that do not meet these size requirements may be rejected on intake.

  • Artwork is limited to 2- and 3-dimensional work. No video or AI work can be

       accepted at this time.

  • No refund of fees will be made after submission.

  • NO CHANGES TO ENTRIES ARE ALLOWED AFTER SUBMISSIONS CLOSE.

      (Please proof your entry details carefully!) Your confirmation email will contain a link where you can
      revise your entry, but once entries close (even if they close early after we receive 100 entries), no
      further changes are possible.


Delivery:

  • Artwork must be delivered to the Artists Council at the Galen in Palm Desert by the artist or his/her agent.

  • Artwork shipped to the Artists Council will not be accepted.

  • The Artists Council cannot provide special handling for artwork.

 

Pricing, Sales, and Pick-Up:

  • Artwork must be available for sale.

  • Sales price must be between $300 and $8,000. Please note: no change to the sale price can be made after submissions close.

  • The artwork’s price MUST be the same as on your website or as otherwise promoted.

  • Proceeds from the sale (excluding sales tax) will be split 50-50 between the artist and the Artists Council (to support programs and operations).

  • Buyers are responsible for picking up the artwork they purchase and for any shipping and all associated expenses for artwork after purchase. Sales tax will be added to the sale price and paid by the buyer. If the buyer is not in town on January 14, 2024, then the artist will be expected to assist with pick up and shipment/delivery.

  • The artist or his/her agent is responsible for picking up or shipping unsold works.

 

LEGAL AGREEMENT

  • By submitting to the Artists Council “Off the Wall” Show & Sale, the artist acknowledges and agrees that he/she:

    • Has read and agrees to all conditions of entry.

    • Releases rights for use of images of his/her artwork in any Artists Council promotional and marketing materials.

    • Is responsible for insurance for his/her artwork. Neither the Artists Council and its officers, directors, staff, nor volunteers; nor anyone connected with the “Off the Wall” Show &; Sale will be responsible for loss or damage to artwork, however caused.

    • All exhibiting artists will be required to sign an electronic liability waiver at the time of submission.

    • The Artists Council reserves the right to refuse any artwork that is not of acceptable quality, does not match the submitted entry image, or does not meet framing or finishing criteria, or any other requirements stated above.
