
"IN FOCUS" SOLO SHOW SERIES
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Artists Council members are invited to submit their works for the debut of our new
"IN FOCUS" Solo Show Series at the Artists Center in Palm Desert, California.This is
an exciting opportunity to showcase an individual artist's cohesive body of work and
gain exposure alongside two of the Artists Center's premier group shows. Acceptance will be based upon "first come, first served" applications.
The first "IN FOCUS" Solo Show will run for two months from April 2, 2025 through May 25, 2025, concurrently with the "Casting Shadows" and "Through the Lens" group shows. Subsequent "IN FOCUS" shows will be scheduled in the 2025-2026 season (exact dates to be announced later).
NO FEE TO APPLY (but accepted artists then pay for gallery space for two months)

• Include a brief description of yourself and your artwork and include three small artwork images as attachments.
• Emails will be recorded by received date and time.
• Artists will be notified of their acceptance by email.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
1. Artwork Submission:
• Twelve to fifteen 2D artworks will be displayed depending on sizes and arrangement. One 3D piece on a pedestal can be included in the proposal. Refer to Section 8 for details.
• A total of twenty pieces should be submitted so there are replacements in case of sales during the show.
• Proposals will be reviewed by the Artists Council to ensure compliance with all Artists Council policies and “fit” into the designated space.
2. Fee for Accepted Artists for Each "IN FOCUS" Solo Show:
• After receipt of your “acceptance email,” a $1,500 flat fee is required to secure your slot for your own "IN FOCUS" solo show, which will run for two months during April and May 2025.
• Payment must be made at the time of acceptance.
3. Important Dates for the First "IN FOCUS" Solo Show:
February 21, 2025 - First artist notified of acceptance for debut show in Spring 2025.
March 5, 2025 - Accepted artist and curator complete consultations, concluding in final artwork selection for the show, plus submission of gallery texts by the artist.
March 7, 2025 - Artist begins populating Online Submission form with titles, dimensions,
prices, and artwork descriptions. Please note: Artwork prices must be consistent with pricing shown on any other websites.
March 12, 2025 - Artist completes Online Submission of all pieces selected for the show.
March 19, 2025 - Artworks delivered to the Artists Center; time to be arranged with curator.
April 2, 2025 - "IN FOCUS" debuts alongside the "Casting Shadows" show.
April 3, 2025 - Opening Reception at the Artists Center from 5:00 -7:00 pm alongside the “Casting Shadows” show.
May 1, 2025 - Opportunity to participate in a Second Opening Reception at the Artists Center from 5:00 -7:00 pm alongside the “Through The Lens” show.
May 28, 2025 - Close of "In Focus" show. Pick up artworks from Artists Center between 10:00 am -11:30 am.
4. Sales and Commission:
• 70% of proceeds from "IN FOCUS" artwork sales will go to the artist.
• 30% of proceeds will be retained by the Artists Council.
5. Curation:
• This is not a juried show. All submitted works will be installed, provided they meet the
submission requirements.
• The installation will be determined by the AC curator in collaboration with the artist.
6. Texts:
The Artist must also submit two texts:
• Artist's Show Statement (under 100 words)
• Artist Bio (under 100 words); a small mug or portrait shot may also be included.
The Artists Council reserves the right to edit and modify texts for comprehension and length.
Text panels will be 8 1/2” X 11” mounted on foam board for display at the front of the "IN FOCUS" hallway gallery. There will also be room for four text items on display: Artist Bio in English and in Spanish + Artist's Show Statement in English and in Spanish (translations to be arranged by the Artists Council.)
The Artists Council will also create a stand-up sign with Show Title, Artist Name and Show Dates to be displayed at the front reception desk and at the entrance to the hallway gallery. Show information will be included in the Front Desk art binders.
7. Display Space:
The "IN FOCUS" shows will be installed in the hallway gallery space beyond Gallery 9 and before the doors to the Education Wing.
• The space includes 35 linear feet in four sections: 16' 11"; 9' 7"; 3' 8"; 4' 6”.
• New lights are being purchased for this space specifically to highlight "In Focus" artworks!
8. Artwork Requirements:
• 2D Artworks must be small- to medium-sized (suggested between 12” X12”min - 36” X 36”max width).
• Must be ready to hang with secure wiring and clean edges. Unframed canvases must be
gallery wrapped (minimum 1 1⁄2-inch depth). Paper or photographic art must be glazed.
• No ceiling-mounted or electrified artwork will be accepted.
• A maximum of one 3D piece no larger than 12”w X 12”d X 24”h is allowed for display on a pedestal.
9. Additional Details:
• All artwork must remain in the Artists Center for the duration of the show. No substitutions or
withdrawals are allowed once the Online Submission is complete (refer to Section 3).
• Artists are encouraged to promote their show independently, but they must include the Artists Council and Artists Center proper names and logos on any materials. The Artists Council must approve any use of its logo. Logo will be provided on request.
