Rick J. Delanty, Juror

 

A California native, Rick J. Delanty has been painting landscapes and seascape for over four decades.  He works in an impressionistic style both plein air and in the studio, using an exuberant calligraphy of color and brushstroke which conveys emotion and movement. His featured subject is the California landscape, and he focuses on compositions built around mood and a deep appreciation for life. Rick maintains a Home Studio & Art Gallery in San Clemente, California.

Drew Oberjuerge, Juror

 

Born and raised in the Inland Empire, Drew Oberjuerge has served as the Executive Director of the Riverside Art Museum since 2012. A strong proponent of collaboration and community partnerships, she has led with the RAM Board and staff the transformation of the 67-year-old organization to strengthen the sustainability of core programs (collections, exhibitions, art education programs, preservation of the museum’s historic Julia Morgan building, etc.) while embracing new art practices and establishing The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum (affectionately known as The Cheech). This work resulted in RAM receiving the 2023 Museum and Library Service National Medal, the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities.

Prior to joining the Riverside Art Museum, she served as the Founding Director of the Art Works Gallery in downtown Riverside, a center dedicated to wellness and recovery through the arts. Prior to that she worked at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum.

She holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy where she was a Dean's Merit Scholar. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Literature and in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego. She is a recipient of a 2019 61st Assembly District Woman of Distinction Award and a 2016 Riverside Arts Academy Leadership Award. She is a member of the Inland Empire Regional Leadership Academy Class of 2018 and Leadership Riverside Class of 2015.

She and her husband Oui have a daughter named Oona who loves art as much as her parents. 

 

 

 

Michael Obermeyer, Juror

A native of Southern California, Michael Obermeyer received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at California State University, Long Beach. A twenty-year career in illustration included work for Disney Studios, the Anaheim Angels, McDonnell Douglas, Coldwell Banker, and the United States Air Force. Because of his illustration background, he is equally comfortable with the landscape and the figure. Many of his paintings are in the U.S. Air Force Historical Art Collection in the Smithsonian Institute and the Pentagon. 

Michael was presented with the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2015. He recently won the "Collector's Choice Award", “Artist Choice Award” and the “Fine Art Connoisseur Award” at the Laguna Beach Invitational Plein Air Competition as well as the "Best of Show" at the Grand Canyon Celebration of Art and the Kern County Plein Air Festival, and the Gold Medal at the Carmel Art Festival. Collectors include the Marriott Hotels and Resorts, The Irvine Company, Hoag Hospital, California State Parks and many corporate as well as private commissions.

 

Michael serves as the President of the prestigious California Art Club and is a Signature Member of both the California Art Club and the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.

Currently, his paintings are showing at galleries in Carmel, Pasadena, Balboa Island and in Laguna Beach, where he is a regular exhibitor at the Festival of Arts.  He maintains his studio in Laguna Beach, California.

Daniel Foster, Curator

Daniel Foster is an award-winning arts and community leader for the past 35 years in the San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino County regions.  Foster is the past Executive Director of two large regional art museums (Oceanside Museum of Art and Riverside Art Museum), and past President/CEO of the Inland Empire Community Foundation (largest public community foundation/nonprofit leader in Riverside/San Bernardino Counties).   Additionally, during his career, Foster has founded/co-founded seven nonprofit/community-based orgs. such as the North County Arts Network (NCAN, nonprofit arts agency for north county San Diego arts sector), Arts Connection (official State of California/San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors arts council agency), Desert Plein Air Association, Inland Empire Funder’s Alliance, and Shumway Ranch.Org.  Foster has nine full-time years of university education at USC-Marshall School of Business (BS); UC San Diego-Revelle College (Art & Philosophy); San Francisco Art Institute (MFA-double degree with honors in New Genres and Sculpture).  Foster lives in Pinyon Crest located in the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mtns. National Monument above Palm Desert.
