Artists Council 2023 “Hot Times – Cool Art” Show & Sale

“Hot Times – Cool Art” is the Artists Council’s first show of the new 2023/2024 Season, offering our member artists new and exciting opportunities for in-person displays of their work. Please read the prospectus all the way through and follow the guidelines carefully. “Hot Times – Cool Art” will celebrate the end of Summer in the Desert.
TO ENTER the 2023 “Hot Times – Cool Art” Show & Sale:

The submission period for this show is now closed.

Up to 2 artworks per applicant will be accepted into the show; the second piece is optional. Please note: If you submit two artworks, the curator will decide where they are placed in the gallery (which may or may not be together).

Entry Fee for this in-person exhibit: $35 for each piece.

Pay with a major credit card via the online application form accessible from the link above.

The show is non-juried, but only the first 100 artworks will be accepted.
IMPORTANT DATES:

NOTE: The submission process closed prior to the previously announced August 17th deadline, as we reached the maximum number of 100 entries on July 14th.

Drop Off: Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 9am to 11am, at the Artists Center at the Galen. (Please note that the date has moved back by one day due to the Labor Day holiday)

Show Opens: Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 10am (regular gallery hours)

Opening Reception: Friday, September 8, 2023, from 4 to 6 pm

Show Closes: Sunday, October 8, 2023, 4pm

Pick Up of Unsold Works: Sunday, October 8, 2023, 2pm to 4pm (please be on time, because the building closes at 4pm)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

If you are not already a member of the Artists Council, please join before you enter, by going to: https://www.artistscouncil.com/join.

If your membership has lapsed, please go to https://www.artistscouncil.com. Then click on Member Portal to log in and renew your membership before submitting your entry.
Artwork must:
-
Be no larger than 48 in (wide) x 60 in (high) (framed).
-
Minimum size 12 in x 12 in (framed).

Be ready for hanging or installation, professionally presented, and meet the following additional requirements.
Other Requirements:

All works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglass.

Unframed canvas must be gallery wrapped.
-
Works on canvas or other materials must be finished on the edges.

Two-dimensional artwork must be wired for hanging. No saw-tooth hangers or ceiling mounts will be accepted.

3-D artwork must be stable, and the artist must provide clips.
-
Hanging cleats are acceptable.
-
Wall hangings that do not have a typical wire or mounting device, must have hardware provided by the artist.

Three-dimensional artwork cannot exceed 150 pounds or 72” high by 48” wide by 48” deep and must be delivered ready for display.

Works that do not meet these size requirements may be rejected on intake.

Artwork is limited to 2- and 3-dimensional work. No video work can be accepted at this time.

No refund of fees will be made after submission.

NO CHANGES TO ENTRIES ARE ALLOWED AFTER SUBMISSIONS CLOSE. (Please proof your entry details carefully!) Your confirmation email will contain a link where you can revise your entry, but once entries close (even if they close early after we receive 100 entries) no further changes are possible.
The Artists Council reserves the right to refuse any artwork. Reasons may include - but are not limited to - work that is not of acceptable quality; work that does not match the submitted entry image; work that does not meet framing or finishing criteria; or work that does not meet any other of the requirements stated above.
Delivery:

Artwork must be delivered to the Artists Center at the Galen in Palm Desert by the artist or his/her agent.

Artwork shipped to the Artists Center will not be accepted.

The Artists Council cannot provide special handling for artwork.
Pricing, Sales, and Pick Up:

Artwork must be available for sale.

Sale price must be between $300 and $8,000. Please note: no change to the sale price can be made after submissions close.

The artwork’s price MUST be the same as on your website or as otherwise promoted.

Proceeds from the sale (excluding sales tax) will be split 50-50 between the artist and the Artists Council (to support programs and operations).

Buyers are responsible for picking up the artwork they purchase and for any shipping and all associated expenses for artwork after purchase. Sales tax will be added to the sale price and paid by the buyer. If the buyer is not in town on October 8, 2023, then the artist will be expected to assist with pick up and shipment/delivery.

The artist or his/her agent is responsible for picking up or shipping unsold works.
LEGAL AGREEMENT
By submitting to the Artists Council “Hot Times – Cool Art” Show & Sale, the artist acknowledges and agrees that he/she:

Has read and agrees to all conditions of entry.

Releases rights for use of images of his/her artwork in any Artists Council promotional and marketing materials.

Is responsible for insurance for his/her artwork. Neither the Artists Council and its officers, directors, staff, or volunteers; nor anyone connected with the “Hot Times – Cool Art” Show & Sale will be responsible for loss or damage to artwork, however caused. All exhibiting artists will be required to sign an electronic liability waiver at the time of submission.
